Polio, etc.
I haven't posted anything in quite a while, I know. It's been a busy few weeks, but I'm finally done with the hardest part of the term, so things should settle down for the next few weeks. I'm also coming off a week of the sickness. I think it was birdflu. Or SARS. Or it could have been "the plague." Sore throat, headache, you know, pretty rough stuff. Better now, though.
Time to watch "The Godfather: part II."

Google has ruined my life.
Growing up, when I lost something, I could usually find it by looking through my little brother's room. If it wasn't in my room, and it wasn't in his, then it may as well no longer exist; it was gone. On-a-bus-to-Graceland gone. I lost stuff, too. I can't even guess how many times my dad told me that if I lost this jacket, he wasn't going to buy me another one. The majority of the things I "owned" when I was a kid either ended up disassembled (for scientific purposes) or lost.
As an adult I don't lose nearly as many things, but when I do lose something now, it's so much worse. I bought my first pocket knife when I was about 8 or 9 years old. It was an Old Timer. Model number 108-OT (don't ask me why I remember the model number, but I can also tell you that the model number hasn't changed). I think I paid about $12 for it at BI-Mart, which was literally the most money I'd ever had at one time. This knife boarded a Greyhound down the Hudson River line within a year, and I got over it. Such is life.

About two years ago I saw the coolest pocket knife ever conceived. Automatic-opening, perfect (small) size, top quality blade, with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time!!!... And it cost over $100. Of course, I was an adult, and by this time had seen $12 on a number of occaisions, so I eventually went out and bought it. It was cool, too. Now? Only God knows. I haven't checked my brother's room, but I doubt it's there. What's really eating me up, though, is that this is the first time in months that I have been completely unable to find something. Usually, I can track anything down in about 3 minutes on Google. Why is Google lagging behind my search needs? Technology has truly let me down. I even tried putting quotes around "Zollner pocketknife," and I get some goofy 45th infantry division page. Come on, Google! Get it together!
